    Queen Nellie Hamilton was born at Gundaroo in 1837 on the Yass River. She was often called ‘Black Nellie’ but to most European settlers she was known as ‘Queen Nellie’. Click here for more information.

  • King Andy Lane

    King Andy Lane

    King Andy Lane was born on Ngunnawal Country in abt 1811. King Andy frequently went on raids in the Goulburn, Cowra, Molong and Wellington districts. As reported in the Yass Courier in 1871, a raiding party from the Boorowa district attacked and killed three Aboriginal men at Molong early one morning in December 1850. The attack was led by King Andy Lane who was seeking to avenge the death of his wife, Charlotte, who had been accidentally killed by a boomerang thrown by Billy Dolly. Dolly fled to Boree Nyrang and was pursued by Lane and several mate.

  • Billy the Bull

    William Lane aka 'Billy the Bull' - Murrjinille, brother of King Andy, frequently joined his brothers on raids (born abt 1800, died 1868)
